After years of incremental updates, a local parenting magazine was ready for a comprehensive digital refresh to create a cleaner, more modern experience across its website and email marketing. Working in collaboration with the art director, I led the redesign of both reader newsletters and B2B email communications, as well as the platform migration.
As part of the project, I researched and evaluated multiple email marketing platforms and selected Mailchimp as the best solution for the publisher’s needs. The email redesign focused on improved content hierarchy, highlighting local events and featured articles while limiting overall content volume to avoid overwhelming readers. This approach resulted in a significant increase in engagement, with open rates rising from 9% to over 30%.
The website redesign included migrating the site from Joomla to WordPress in partnership with a web development team. The updated site introduced a more modern visual design, improved navigation, and a clearer article structure to enhance usability and SEO. I also developed updated page layouts and custom visual icons to support a more cohesive and user-friendly digital experience.
